The Graphics tool (Survey >> Field Book >> Import) currently imports all the MicroStation features in the active .dgn to survey features. This idea is a request to enhance the Graphics tool (Survey >> Field Book >> Import) to allow the user to import based on a selection set. The user may not want to import all MicroStation features in the active .dgn to survey features, but may prefer to control the graphics being imported into the Field Book via a selection set. The heads up display on the Graphics tool (Survey >> Field Book >> Import) states, “Import Field book data from graphic elements”. This tool’s heads up display does not state, “Import Field book data from all graphic elements”. There have been issues on projects where the Graphics tool (Survey >> Field Book >> Import) was used to try and import linear graphics into the field book, and the user later realized that all other Microstation features were also imported in the field book (standard informational blocks, DOT logo, and north arrow as examples). Also, once the Graphics tool (Survey >> Field Book >> Import) is used there does not appear to be a way to undo/remove the survey feature conversion once it is performed in a dgn. Please consider enhancing the Graphics tool (Survey >> Field Book >> Import) for these use cases in a future release.
