suppose you use the Civil analysis tool to track the mainline horizontal alignment to a point at the edge of pavement. It can be confusing for users to know if X/Y displayed in the dialog represents the point selected (e.g. at the edge of pavement) or along the alignment (at zero offset).

To minimize future confusion to users and provide more feedback, I propose this tool be updated to clearly provide BOTH results. For instance, it could have options for "X along element", "Y along Element", "X on snap" and "Y on snap". Or something similar.
