Similar to the new Station/Offset Expressions, it would be great to query a terrain in an item type on an element and return the elevation. It would be used primarily for point cells, but I could also see it being useful for linework.

Awesome, thanks for the info!
I realize the point features draw cells similar to drainage, but you cannot place these in drawing models, only design models. These cells would be for plan production only. I have users requesting this ability to place these cells as they are labeling because they are used on a case-by-case basis. For example, on our geometric sheets space commonly becomes an issue. We switch some labels from full station/offset/elevation notes to simple callout notes with tables if the sheet is too crowded. Being able to place these cells in the drawings when needed would be very helpful. It would also allow other non-civil elements to read elevations for more schematic designs like traffic signals, lighting, and electric layouts, which do not need all the additional 3D information.
It is possible to have a Point Feature draw a cell, similar to a drainage cell works. Would that work?
Civil point features yes, but regular MicroStation point cells do not have this capability. A use case of this would be the ability to place these normal cells in a drawing model but still have the ability to pull an elevation from a terrain.
Could you please provide a use case? It is possible to use Item Types currently on Point Features to get the elevation.
