Currently only template points located on top surface can produce 2d linear elements. This also only seems possible, when the components they belong to, are not ‘Excluded From Top/Bottom Mesh’ (option in Component properties dialog) and the ‘Create Template Geometry’ is set to True in the Feature Definition for that linear element. This arrangement ensures that there are no duplications of linear elements in 2d model (created by templates) - if there were other strings in the same location in plan but at different levels i.e. below top surface.
However, there may be scenarios where having 2d elements directly under other 2d elements would be beneficial. Display of these elements in 2d model could be easily controlled by the level display. So we are looking for an option that would allow this functionality. This could include an optional switch underneath the ‘Create Template Geometry’ option in the Feature Definition e.g. ‘Include Elements Below Top Surface’, plus making sure that it would work even if the component (that holds the template point) IS excluded from top mesh by selection the ‘Excluded From Top/Bottom Mesh’ (i.e. safety barriers).
In addition, we would like to extend this functionality to the Null Points. This would complement implementation of the Idea BCI-I-430 (Template Display Rules for Null Points).
