Challenges when different template components/features share the same name but with different assigned feature definitions

Suppose you have a corridor with two different template drops. The first template has a component called "pavement_left" with a feature definition "pvmt_friction_course". The second template has a component also called "pavement_left" with a feature definition "pvmt_course".

When the components are created they develop as a single component mesh that uses ONE of the assigned feature definitions. If designers aren't paying attention they may not recognize that one of the assigned feature definitions isn't getting applied. A similar problem occurs with template points (i.e. feature linestrings) that share a name but with different feature definitions.

Can you provide a way to improve how this works? Perhaps warn the designer when objects (components or points) within the corridor share a name with different feature definitions.

Within ORD you can view / edit multi template points and component features. In the create template dialog go to Tools Apply Feature Definition Points or Apply Feature Definition Components.
