Sometimes in track design, one must use different types of rails, say 60kg and 50kg rails. One could weld them and grind them together but this is a crude method. In Sweden they use what is called a transition rail, which in principle contain a smooth transition between different rail profiles. It would be nice if there was a tool (say under rail tab) which would allow such a thing. The tool could also offer a customization option where one could use different transition rail templates and adjust the parameters.
